PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Floyd Gayweather (ranked 1596 p4p, 2771 weight class) and Char Donnay (ranked 177 p4p, 296 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Floyd Gayweather!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Char Donnay!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gayweather uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Donnay.
Donnay throws a sloppy body shot
and Gayweather counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Gayweather rushes Donnay and presses him up against the cage.
Gayweather wants to break the clinch but can't.
Gayweather wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Donnay has him pressed against the cage.

Donnay slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Donnay shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gayweather napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Donnay enables Gayweather to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Donnay manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Gayweather has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Donnay seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Donnay throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Donnay shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Donnay looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gayweather with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Gayweather is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Donnay scores with a couple of nice shots.
Donnay thows a huge punch but Gayweather dodges it nicely.
Gayweather is not content to let Donnay control the position.

Gayweather working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Donnay doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Donnay manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gayweather had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Donnay defends it easily.
