PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Benny Darius (ranked 3440 p4p, 5036 weight class) and Joku Nimi (ranked 359 p4p, 418 weight class). Darius comes to the cage accompanied by In the Shadows - The Rasmus. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Benny Darius!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joku Nimi!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darius with a lazy takedown attempt
letting Nimi counter with a right hand.
Darius staying out of range there.
Nimi walks into a straight right hand from Darius.
A nice leg kick lands there from Nimi.
Nimi connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Nimi cracks Darius with a good jab.
Nimi moves forwards but Darius connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Nimi clinches.
Darius prevents Nimi from breaking the clinch.

Nimi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sloppy strikes from Nimi. Those never looked like landing.
Darius dives in and grabs Nimi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nimi pushes down on Darius's head and hops out.

Nimi flicks out a counter leg kick but Darius steps away.

Darius seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nimi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Darius is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nimi defends it well.

Nimi moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Nimi shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Darius swings for the body but Nimi moves out of range.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Darius lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Nimi backwards.

Nimi gets through Darius's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Darius jumps guard but Nimi stands there with Darius around his waist. Darius gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Joku Nimi seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Nimi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Darius takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Oh Darius is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Darius works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Nimi throws a leg kick which misses Darius's front leg but catches the back leg as Darius tries to avoid it.

Darius gets tackled into the cage by Nimi. Nimi maintains the clinch.

Nimi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nimi lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Darius falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!

A very excited looking Joku Nimi made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
