PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Panze Badu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Atkinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jack Atkinson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Panze Badu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Atkinson!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Badu shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Atkinson as he avoids it easily.
Badu slips a jab and a cross from Atkinson.
No luck for Badu with that takedown attempt.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Badu shoots for a takedown but Atkinson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Panze Badu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Badu shoots in for a double leg but Atkinson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Badu will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Atkinson throws a combination that misses

Atkinson wants to stand but Badu is controlling the position.

Badu drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Atkinson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Badu has Atkinson in his guard.

Badu is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Badu had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Atkinson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Badu Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Atkinson's back instead.
Atkinson needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation.
Atkinson tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Atkinson wants to hold on but Badu pushes him away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Badu goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Atkinson is on top in guard.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Well Atkinson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
