PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Drake (ranked 329 p4p, 239 weight class) and Jack Spratt (ranked 45 p4p, 35 weight class). Drake comes to the cage accompanied by Hell Yeah - Rev Theory. Spratt has chosen Fit But You Know It as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bobby Drake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Spratt!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drake slips under a jab from Spratt.
Spratt scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Drake has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Drake there as he acknowledges the shot.
Drake takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Drake staying out of range there.
Spratt lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Spratt misses with a hook. Drake ducked under it nicely.
Drake tries for a takedown but Spratt sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Spratt lands a jab to the head.
Spratt throws the left hand but Drake avoids the punch easily.
Drake chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Spratt can pounce on him.
We've been informed that Spratt has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Drake throws a hook to the side of Spratt's head but Spratt sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Drake throws a jab but it's blocked by Spratt.
Spratt moves out of range as Drake strikes.
Spratt throws a hook but Drake avoids it easily.
Drake throws a big shot that misses.
Drake has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Final Mile in the buildup to the fight.

Drake looking to score a takedown here. Spratt is defending well but Drake drives through and ends up in Spratt's guard.
Drake is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Spratt looking for a sweep. Not yet Spratt, not yet.
Drake tries to free his leg and advance position but Spratt is retaining full guard.
Drake throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Spratt works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Drake is looking to work some ground and pound but Spratt has wrist control.
Spratt keeping moving, preventing Drake from controlling successfully.
Drake slips nicely into half guard.
Drake not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Spratt is staying active underneath Drake, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spratt on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Drake lands a nice short elbow.
Drake slips a nice elbow through Spratt's hands, connecting with Spratt's forehead.
Drake has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Drake looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Drake is looking to stall here but Spratt recovers full guard.
Drake is in close to Spratt's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Spratt is pulling down on Drake's head to control his posture.
Drake works over Spratt with some ground and pound from guard.

Drake landing some decent shots from guard.
Spratt is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Spratt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Drake. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Spratt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Drake gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Drake is looking to work some ground and pound but Spratt has wrist control.
Spratt is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Drake lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Drake looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Spratt is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bobby Drake will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Spratt changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Spratt pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Drake fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Spratt throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Drake throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Drake misses the shot to the body.
A little jabbing left from Spratt on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Drake tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Spratt defends well and Drake ends up having to push Spratt into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Drake misses with a body punch.
Spratt lands a hook that snaps the head of Drake backwards.
Spratt scores with a shot to the side of Drake's head.

Spratt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Drake looks to land a right hand but Spratt moved out of range.
Spratt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jack Spratt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Drake feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Spratts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Drake tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Spratt uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Drake.
Spratt steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Drake.

Drake misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Spratt.
Spratt appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Spratt plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

It looks like Bobby Drake has been cut.
Drake lands a jab to the head.
Drake gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Drake stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Spratt takes a shot to the body in his stride.
A decent looking cross lands there for Spratt.
Drake tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Spratt swivels and escapes.
Spratt looks to land a combination. Drake sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Spratt dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Drake. That did some damage!
A decent looking cross lands there for Spratt.
A punch lands to the side of Drake 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A swing and a miss from Spratt.
Drake fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Spratt was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Drake. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Spratt lands an overhand right.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Spratt ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Drake loads up on a big right hand but Spratt slips the punch.
Spratt blocks a jab.
Drake misses with a combination
and Spratt connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Spratt works the jab nicely.
Spratt cracks Drake with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Drake is rocked!
Spratt fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Oh Drake is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Drake takes one to the side of the head.
Spratt with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Spratt fakes the body blow, causing Drake to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Drake goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jack Spratt!
A very excited looking Jack Spratt made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
