PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Kim (ranked 4734 p4p, 4031 weight class) and Damon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jesse Kim has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jesse Kim seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jesse Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Damon Jones!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kim throws a big counter combination but Jones scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kim wants to control but Jones postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Kim's shoulder. That is not cool.

Jones is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kim knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kim manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jones's best efforts.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kim tries to kick Jones off but Jones keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jones slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Jones postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Jones stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Jones fails to land the takedown.
Kim appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Kim throws a leg kick but Jones sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kim sprawls well. Kim wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.

and Jones counters with a three punch combo that has Kim backing up. Kim nods at Jones to acknowledge the strikes.

Jones shoots in and drives through. Kim sprawls well.

and Jones moves into the clinch.
Kim wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kim is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Jones is defending well.
Jones just leaning against Kim, taking a breather.

Jones ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jones no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Damon Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Kim tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kim fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away.
Kim closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Kim pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jones pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kim shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.

Jesse Kim has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Damon Jones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Jones throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
