PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Test Three (ranked 4022 p4p, 4366 weight class) and Bob Duffy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Test Three!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bob Duffy!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duffy misses with a low kick as Three jumps back.
Three fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Duffy avoids it really well and circles away.
Three tries for a takedown but Duffy sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Three fails with a takedown attempt.
Duffy throws a counter combo.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Test Three. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Three tries to score a power double leg takedown but Duffy sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Three somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Three moves in looking to clinch but Duffy pushes him off.
Three ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Duffy moves away.
Three shoots for a double leg takedown but Duffy sprawls well. He's pushed Three's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Three avoids the head kick by Duffy.
Three is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Duffy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Three misses with a shot to the body
and Duffy counters with a nice uppercut.

Duffy is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Three's half guard.
Three tries to kick Duffy off in order to stand up. Duffy Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Duffy connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Three some visible discomfort.
Duffy has control of an arm but Three manages to advance to Duffy's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Duffy is trying to stand back up.
Three doesn't have the hooks in and Duffy manages to turn into his guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Duffy with a nice head shot there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Three wants to stand up but Duffy is controlling him.
Duffy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Three looking to hit a scissor sweep but Duffy is one step ahead there.
Duffy connects with a couple of short punches.
Three being controlled here, momentarily.
Let's hope that Duffy has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Duffy stands and steps away. Three gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Three tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Duffy defends well and Three ends up having to push Duffy into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Three is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Duffy to keep the fight standing.
Duffy prevents the takedown attempt.
Three jumps guard but Duffy stands there with Three around his waist. Three gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Three can't get the takedown.

Duffy has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Three uses from the top position.

Duffy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Three defends well.

Three is looking to work some ground and pound but Duffy has wrist control.
Duffy scores with a short punch from the bottom.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Duffy is looking to stand up but Three isn't so interested in that idea.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Duffy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Duffy shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Duffy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Duffy working over Three with some ground and pound. Three looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Three makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Three.
Three wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duffy stands up over Three, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Bob Duffy has got the better of the ground game so far.

Three looking for subs off his back but Duffy has passed one foot through into half guard.
Duffy uses his free foot to push down on Three's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Three.

A nice elbow there by Duffy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Three's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Duffy is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Duffy!
