Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Lingfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pierre Ragout Mendy!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lingfield wants to clinch.
Mendy throws out a counter right but Lingfield avoids it with no problem.
Mendy waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lingfield.

Mendy gets caught flat footed, as Lingfield shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Mendy is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Lingfield presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Lingfield gets underhooks to prevent Mendy's takedown attempt.

Lingfield has hold of one of Mendy's legs. Mendy is fighting the takedown attempt but Lingfield gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lingfield wants to control from the top but Mendy keeps moving.
Mendy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lingfield turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lingfield creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mendy sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Lingfield is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mendy has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mendy wants to control but Lingfield postures up.
Lingfield just content to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendy tries to improve position but can't.
Mendy is letting Lingfield control him for a moment.
Lingfield seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mendy for as long as he can get away with.

You can see the frustration on Mendy's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mendy told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Lingfield gets to mount! Mendy was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Lingfield changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mendy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mendy seems to have recovered his senses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mendy is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Lingfield is staying active.

Lingfield lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Lingfield prevents Mendy from getting the reversal.
Lingfield wants to control the pace but Mendy is squirming around nicely.
Lingfield is landing with some decent strikes but Mendy is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
This has been an exciting period of action!

After the fight, Jim Lingfield was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
