The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rocksteady throws out a loose jab but Smith uses good head movement to avoid it.
Smith has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Rasmus's Fun House in the buildup to the fight.
Smith avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Smith is looking to counter punch.
Rocksteady misses with a left hand
and Smith counters with a straight right hand.
Rocksteady scores with a nice strike.
Rocksteady stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Rocksteady throws a lazy uppercut
and Smith counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Smith lands a nice hook to Rocksteady's body. Rocksteady takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Rocksteady swings widly with a right hand
and Smith makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Rocksteady takes a swing at Smith's ribcage but misses.
Smith swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Rocksteady misses with a left hand
and Smith counters with a stiff right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A little feinted left hand from Smith on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
James Rocksteady seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
