PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harley Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee comes to the cage accompanied by Everything in its right place- Radio Head. Reyes has chosen Voodoo Chile (Stevie Ray Vaughan) as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Freddy Lee!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Harley Reyes!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reyes swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A slow jab from Reyes misses its intended target.
Reyes throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Reyes darts in and clinches Lee up against the cage.

Reyes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lee blocks a jab.
Reyes throws a nice looking combination but Lee bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Lee tries to keep at a distance but Reyes has taken the fight into the clinch.
Lee changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Reyes fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Harley Reyes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reyes throws out a loose jab but Lee uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reyes throws a right and a left that Lee avoids nicely.
Lee fails with a takedown attempt.
Harley Reyes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Lee lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Harley Reyes has been cut.
Lee moves out of range as Reyes strikes.
Reyes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lee moves away.
Nice sprawl there from Reyes as Lee shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddy Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Reyes misses with a combination

and Lee counters with a takedown into side control.
Reyes manages to get back to half guard.

Lee is looking for a kimura here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee tries to pass the half guard into mount. Reyes knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Lee is working hard here to advance position.

Lee looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Lee wants to work for an arm triangle but Reyes is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lee wants to pass the guard but Reyes is defending well.

Lee is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Reyes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lee.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lee uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Reyes.
Lee slips a straight right by Reyes.
Lee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Reyes's waist but Reyes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lee off to one side.
Lee bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Reyes stuffs the takedown.
Reyes misses with a jab to the body

and Lee counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lee.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lee drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Reyes manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lee has Reyes in his guard.

Lee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Reyes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Reyes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Reyes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Lee throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Reyes escapes and throws Lee's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Reyes is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lee knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Freddy Lee dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Harley Reyes's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Reyes jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Lee uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Reyes.
Reyes looks to throw the jab but Lee is out of range.
Reyes throws a hook but Lee blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lee has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Reyes!

Lee with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Reyes is trying to escape the mount.
Reyes is breathing heavily.
Reyes tries to hold on but Lee pushes him away.

Lee swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Reyes is now in Lee's guard. A big mistake from Lee there, giving up the dominant position!

Lee wants to sweep here but Reyes controlling him for the moment.

Reyes is sitting in close to Lee's body. Lee has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Reyes is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Reyes is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Lee.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Freddy Lee!
