Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maksim Taranin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taranin loads up on a big right hand but Peterson slips the punch.
Peterson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

It looks like Maksim Taranin has been cut.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Peterson - that will leave a mark!
Taranin avoids the body shot from Peterson.
Taranin ducks right into an uppercut from Peterson.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Peterson enables Taranin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Peterson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Peterson is looking to stand back up but Taranin counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Peterson.

Taranin lands strikes from half guard.
Peterson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Taranin scores with a couple of nice shots.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Peterson is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Peterson has hold of Taranin's hands but Taranin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Taranin is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Taranin sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Peterson defending well though.
Taranin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Taranin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Peterson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Taranin throwing shots but Peterson is blocking nicely.
Taranin landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Peterson tries to roll over but Taranin keeps him under control.
Taranin thows a huge punch but Peterson dodges it nicely.
Taranin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Peterson keeping hold of Taranin's head, controlling as best he can.

Peterson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Taranin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Taranin tries to pass to full mount but Peterson defends it.
Taranin lands strikes from half guard.
Taranin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Taranin is looking to take a break and control but Peterson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Taranin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Taranin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Peterson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Taranin.
Peterson tries to roll over but Taranin keeps him under control.
Taranin lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Taranin looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Taranin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Peterson keeps working.
Taranin throwing shots but Peterson is blocking nicely.
Peterson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Taranin scores with a couple of nice shots.
We've been hearing that Taranin has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Taranin throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Taranin scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Peterson is looking to get back to full guard here but Taranin has managed to pass to side control instead.

Taranin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Taranin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Peterson misses with a body shot.

Taranin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Peterson's half guard.
Taranin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Peterson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Peterson is still in real trouble! Can Taranin finish him?
Taranin lands a big elbow - Peterson is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Taranin!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Maksim Taranin!
