The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marksman misses with a jab, cross combination.
Marksman fails with the takedown.
Hicks ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Hicks uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Marksman.
Marksman tries to bum rush Hicks with a series of wild strikes but Hicks uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Marksman misses with a double jab.
Marksman takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Hicks scores with a hook.
Marksman throws a series of punches but Hicks moves out of range.
Marksman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Marksman fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Marksman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hicks pinned against the cage. Hicks gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
QL Hicks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Marksman.
No joy there for Marksman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kyle Marksman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hicks connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Marksman some visible discomfort.

Hicks has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Marksman's face.
