Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Boris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mickey Munday!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munday drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Horrible takedown attempt by Boris or perhaps it was just good defense by Munday, which made it look bad.
Boris shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Munday as he jumps to the side.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Munday! But no joy.
Boris seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Boris fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Boris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Munday throws a looping overhand right but Boris ducks down to avoid it.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Munday has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Boris decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Munday's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Boris passes Munday's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Munday manages to get to full guard.

Boris drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Boris jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Munday is wriggling around but Boris manages to pass to half guard.

Boris seems to be working for a kimura but Munday defends the submission attempt.
Munday wants to control but Boris is keeping busy.

Boris is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Munday is just riding it out for now. Boris eventually gives up the hold.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Munday looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Boris is looking to advance position but Munday won't allow it.
Munday is trying to get back to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Boris is looking to take a break and control but Munday is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Munday lands a nice looking body shot.
Boris shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Munday to counter with a crisp jab.
Boris throws a body punch but Munday moves out of range.
Munday misses with a hook

and Boris counters with a nice double leg into side control. Munday won't be happy with that.
Munday wants to get back to his feet but Boris drags him back down.
Boris wants to control for a moment but Munday uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Munday looks like he's trying to stand up.
Munday is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Munday is staying active underneath Boris, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Boris stalling away here and it's allowed Munday to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Boris in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Munday looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Boris keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Munday's head.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Munday had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Boris defends it easily.
Boris controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Munday keeping moving, preventing Boris from controlling successfully.
Munday can't keep his opponent in guard - Boris advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Boris is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Munday looking for submissions off his back.
Boris slips a nice elbow through Munday's hands, connecting with Munday's forehead.
Munday has a hand on Boris's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Boris takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Boris looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Boris looking to finish Munday with some ground and pound. This is bad for Munday!
Boris lands a nice shot to the head.
Munday tries to improve his position but instead Boris has taken his back!

Boris is persistently looking for the submission but Munday is defending it well.
Boris is trying to stick to Munday's back but Munday is turning into Boris. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Boris's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Munday.
Munday wanted to stand there but Boris had control of the position.
Boris pulls Munday in close to prevent any damage.

Munday postures up.
Munday wants to stand but Boris is controlling his posture from full guard.
Boris is trying to keep Munday in close.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Boris is trying to control the position here. Munday has hold of a guillotine from the top though... oh, that looks naaaaasty, will Boris tap? Yes he will! The fight is all over! Munday jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd.
