PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Rees (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kyle Rees!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace misses with a body shot.
Rees tries to clinch but Wallace moves out of range.
Rees is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wallace.
The fighters circling - Wallace throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Wallace rushes Rees and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Wallace tries to break free but Rees pushes him back against the cage.
Wallace blocks an elbow strike from Rees.
Rees misses with an elbow over the top.

Wallace has hold of one of Rees's legs. Rees is fighting the takedown attempt but Wallace gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Rees tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Rees is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Rees is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wallace is aware though and is defending well.
Rees thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Rees keeping full guard, as Wallace tries to pass.
Wallace missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Rees trying to control the position.
Rees keeping moving, preventing Wallace from controlling successfully.

Rees has his foot on Wallace's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wallace works his way back into a safe position though.

Wallace trying to control but Rees is working from the bottom.

Rees is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wallace defends well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rees looks to land a combination but Wallace avoids it well.
Wallace looks to land a left hand but Rees moved out of range nicely.
Wallace lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rees circles away quickly and effectively.
William Wallace seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wallace misses with a few strikes there.
Wallace scores with a jab to the body.
Rees tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wallace paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Wallace throws and low kick but Rees moves out of range easily.
Rees avoids the head kick by Wallace.
Wallace throws a hook but Rees blocks it.
Rees misses with a takedown attempt - Wallace sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rees looks gassed!
Wallace throws a right and a left that Rees avoids nicely.
Wallace swats away the attempt to clinch by Rees.

Wallace fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Wallace misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rees closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wallace scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Rees looking for a sweep but Wallace has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Wallace lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Wallace landing strikes from the mount and Rees is in trouble!
Wallace controlling his opponent.
Wallace's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Wallace fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Wallace is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rees can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Rees tries to hold on but Wallace pushes him away.
Wallace scoring with strikes but Rees is staying in there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wallace lands a nice shot to the head.
Wallace controlling his opponent.

Rees tries to improve his position but Wallace has taken his back! Wallace has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Rees tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Wallace pushes Rees away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). William Wallace!
