PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Fudge (ranked 5014 p4p, 4991 weight class) and Jack Hastings (ranked 434 p4p, 433 weight class). Hastings has chosen Jesus Walks by Kanye West as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jack Hastings was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Bob Fudge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Hastings!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fudge tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And Hastings tries to counter it with a takedown but Fudge pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hastings swats away the attempt to clinch by Fudge.

Fudge moves into the clinch successfully.
Fudge gets underhooks to prevent Hastings's takedown attempt.
Hastings letting Fudge take a breather here.
Hastings is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Fudge is defending well.
Hastings looking for a takedown.
Bob Fudge has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Hastings.

Fudge wants to stand and escape but Hastings is having none of it.
Hastings controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hastings trying to control the position from guard on top but Fudge is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Bob Fudge seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hastings is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Fudge.

Maybe Fudge would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.

We've been informed that Hastings has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

and Hastings counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fudge won't be happy with that.
Fudge is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Hastings has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Hastings is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Hastings is looking to take a break and control but Fudge is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hastings goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Fudge has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hastings but great work by Fudge.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hastings can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fudge tries to stand but Hastings is controlling his head.
Hastings tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Hastings tries to hold on but Fudge pushes him away.
Hastings is in all sorts of trouble here.
Hastings just holding on.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fudge wants to stand but Hastings is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Hastings is desperately trying to improve his position but Fudge has a good base and remains in mount.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bob Fudge.
I think Fudge has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
