PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Osama Bin Laden (ranked 2824 p4p, 4361 weight class) and Deandre Furgenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Furgenson has chosen call me revenge as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Osama Bin Laden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Deandre Furgenson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Joseph Jones and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Furgenson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bin Laden's half guard.
Furgenson wants to take a breather but Bin Laden is having none of it.
Bin Laden is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Furgenson is pressing down on Bin Laden's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bin Laden is holding on for now.

Furgenson drops back looking for a leg! Bin Laden is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bin Laden manages to kick Furgenson off! Furgenson jumps back into Bin Laden's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Furgenson wants to control but Bin Laden is keeping him busy.
Bin Laden is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Furgenson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Furgenson's back!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Bin Laden is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Bin Laden's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Bin Laden is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Bin Laden has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Furgenson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bin Laden defends well.
Bin Laden slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Bin Laden seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Furgenson for as long as he can get away with.

Bin Laden has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Furgenson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Bin Laden stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Furgenson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Furgenson makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Bin Laden shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bin Laden showed some decent athleticism there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Osama Bin Laden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bin Laden really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well Bin Laden has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
