PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Marr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darren Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Marr might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Falls. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marr throws a sloppy head kick and Williams moves out of range easily.
Williams tries to bum rush Marr with a series of wild strikes but Marr uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Marr misses with an attempted mid kick.
Marr tries to clinch up but Williams circles away and keeps his distance.
Williams throws a body kick the misses
and Marr counters with a big head kick but Williams shrugs it off.
Williams does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Marr counters with a three punch combo that has Williams backing up. Williams nods at Marr to acknowledge the strikes.
Williams thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Marr if he has to take too many more of those.
Marr misses with a head kick.
Williams moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Williams.
Marr is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Marr throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Marr misses with a low kick.
Williams lands a front kick.
No joy there for Williams, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Williams throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Marr tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Williams drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Williams throws a strike but Marr rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Marr slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Williams tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Williams had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Marr is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Williams Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Marr's back instead.
Marr manages to reverse the position and now he's in Williams's guard. Nice work there by Marr.
Williams tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Marr moves into full guard.

Marr has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Williams doesn't defend quickly enough and Marr has managed to lock this one up! Can Williams escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Marr on a fantastic submission victory.
