Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 20 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Curtis Rome!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akechi lands a glancing blow to the side of Rome's head.

Rome gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Akechi looking to sit in guard and control but Rome gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Rome wants to pass the guard but Akechi is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rome prevents Akechi from getting back to his feet.
Rome slips nicely into half guard.

Rome is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Akechi defends it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Akechi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Curtis Rome tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
