Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brett Assman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Blake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brett Assman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Blake!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blake ducks under a wild hook from Assman.
Assman misses with a hook. Blake ducked under it nicely.
Assman paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Assman lands with a shot to the body.
Assman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Blake.
Assman jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A swing and a miss from Assman.
Assman misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Blake.
Blake steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Assman.

Assman looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Blake!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Blake tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Blake is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blake looks gassed!

Assman working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Assman with shots to the head and body - Blake looks very uncomfortable down there.

Blake is trying desperately to improve position.
Assman wants to control the pace but Blake is squirming around nicely.
Assman throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Assman tries to control but Blake wriggling away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Blake wants to try and get back to his feet.
A nice elbow there by Assman.
Blake slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Assman not doing much here.
Blake is looking to improve his position.
Blake should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Blake is trying to stand back up but Assman is controlling him
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Assman is trying to control. Blake wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Assman misses with a head shot. Blake uses the momentum to regain guard.

Blake has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Assman off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Blake stops Assman from standing up.

Blake wants to control from the top but Assman keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blake chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Assman takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Nice takedown defense from Assman. No joy for Blake on that attempt.
Assman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Blake scores a takedown into full mount!
Assman swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Blake stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Assman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Blake but Blake pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Blake moves in looking to clinch but Assman pushes him off.

Blake lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Assman circles away quickly and effectively.

Assman gets caught flat footed, as Blake shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Blake wants to control from the top but Assman keeps moving.
Blake is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Blake works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Blake is looking to take a break and control but Assman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Blake is keen to just control but Assman is a slippery customer.
Blake perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Blake looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Assman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Blake works his way into side control.

Blake is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Assman has escaped the position, nice work there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Blake is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Assman will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The ground and pound from Blake seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Blake lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Blake showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Blake tries to clinch there but Assman circles away.
Blake moves out of range as Assman strikes.
Blake ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Blake tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Assman swivels and escapes.
Assman misses with a hook. Blake ducked under it nicely.

Steve Blake is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Assman looks to score with a jab to the body but Blake is just out of range.
Blake plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Blake tries to clinch up but Assman circles away and keeps his distance.

Blake rushes Assman and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Blake misses with the head strike.
Blake is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Assman is keeping busy.

Blake jumps into guard, dragging Assman to the mat.
Assman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Blake swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Blake is working an open guard so Assman takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Blake pushes Assman up against the cage in a clinch.
Blake goes for a takedown in the clinch but Assman prevents it.

Assman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Assman throws out a loose jab but Blake uses good head movement to avoid it.

Assman gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Blake.
Brett Assman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Blake.
Blake is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Blake fails to pull guard.
Blake is looking to break free of the clinch but Assman has double underhooks.
Assman is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Blake has Assman pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Assman manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Assman has had enough of the clinch but Blake keeps him there for the moment.
Assman wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Blake tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Assman wants to break free but Blake has control.
Blake drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Blake drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Assman gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Blake jumps guard but Assman stands there with Blake around his waist. Blake gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Blake throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Assman blocks it with crossed arms.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Blake tries to pull guard but Assman won't allow it.
Blake keeps control of Assman as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brett Assman.
I think Assman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
