PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Denzel Junior (ranked 5402 p4p, 4502 weight class) and Bernard McCurtney (ranked 312 p4p, 280 weight class). McCurtney is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Killah. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCurtney lands a nice hook to Junior's body. Junior takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
McCurtney swings for the body but Junior moves out of range.

Junior instigates a clinch.

Junior pulls McCurtney into guard.

Junior had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McCurtney defends it easily.

McCurtney gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Some wild striking there from McCurtney.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Junior shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McCurtney as he avoids it easily.
McCurtney unleashes a big counter combination but Junior bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Junior takes one on the chin but seems OK.
McCurtney throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McCurtney waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Junior.
Junior takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Junior tries to move into range but McCurtney moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
McCurtney smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Junior tries to clinch up.

Junior closes the distance and clinches.
Junior jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McCurtney walks away with a smile on his face. Junior gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
McCurtney scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Junior takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
McCurtney throws a combination. Junior tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
McCurtney works Junior's body with a nice hook.
McCurtney lands with an uppercut that bounces Junior off the cage and back into range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McCurtney connects with a body shot that sends Junior's belly button to the back.
Junior takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Junior tries to land a body kick
and McCurtney counters with a left to the body.
Junior really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McCurtney connects with a good right hand that stumbles Junior. Junior circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
McCurtney throws a series of punches but Junior avoids them all with ease.
Junior shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McCurtney defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Denzel Junior. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McCurtney works Junior's body with a nice hook.
McCurtney connects with a body shot that sends Junior's belly button to the back.
McCurtney fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McCurtney throws a series of strikes that have Junior backpedaling.
