Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sambo Sam (ranked 1758 p4p, 1485 weight class) and Akahoshi Hisashi (ranked 211 p4p, 184 weight class). Hisashi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Feng Shui. Sambo Sam has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Akahoshi Hisashi!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Topper Green and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hisashi pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Sam back to the cage. Hisashi follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

It looks like Sambo Sam has been cut.

Sam closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hisashi did well to prevent Sam getting side control.
Sam thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Sam seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hisashi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Sam is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hisashi is just riding it out for now. Sam eventually gives up the hold.
Sam is nestled in close to Hisashi, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hisashi has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Hisashi lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sam closes the distance and clinches up with Hisashi, looking for a takedown. Sam pushes Hisashi against the cage but Hisashi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sam throws out a loose jab but Hisashi uses good head movement to avoid it.

Sam throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hisashi was covering up waiting for the punch and Sam finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sam throws an elbow that misses. Hisashi uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sam's guard. Nice move by Hisashi!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hisashi might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Sam goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hisashi rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Sam's guard! Nice work there by Hisashi!

Sam is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hisashi pulls his head out easily.
Akahoshi Hisashi is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Hisashi wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Sam uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Akahoshi Hisashi.
Well Hisashi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
