The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Penn throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Teteny was covering up waiting for the punch and Penn finishes the takedown easily into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Penn (2) vs (0) Teteny

Penn passes Teteny's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Penn is working for a submission of some sort.
Teteny trying to hold on to Penn's head to control him but Penn postures up.
Penn is looking for a kimura but Teteny is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Penn to get the leverage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Penn is keen to just control but Teteny is a slippery customer.

Teteny felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Penn wants to work for an arm triangle but Teteny is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
