Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Royal Halsti (ranked 718 p4p, 708 weight class) and Benedicte Swanson (ranked 113 p4p, 111 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Royal Halsti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 38 - 5, fighting out of Los Angeles, Benedicte Swanson!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Halsti shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Swanson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Halsti looking to pass the guard.
Halsti throws a big right hand that misses.
Swanson has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Halsti has passed into side control.
Halsti tries to move into full mount but can't pass Swanson's legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Halsti trying to control the position but Swanson is working away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Halsti tries to advance to mount but Swanson denies him.
Halsti tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Halsti is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Swanson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Swanson regains half guard.
Halsti not landing any meaningful shots this time.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Swanson has his hands clasped together around Halsti's back. He's all about the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Halsti is controlling the pace.
Swanson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Swanson is trying to stand back up but Halsti is controlling him
Halsti not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Halsti throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Halsti trying to mount his opponent but Swanson defends it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Swanson moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

It looks like Royal Halsti has been cut.
Halsti avoids the body shot from Swanson.
Halsti is looking for a counter combo.
Swanson lands with an overhand left.
Swanson misses with a looping left.
Halsti tries to counter by clinching up but Swanson breaks away and moves out of range.
Halsti throws a sloppy head kick and Swanson moves out of range easily.
Halsti scores with a push kick.
Halsti doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Halsti changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Swanson tries to avoid it but Halsti manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Swanson to the ground. Swanson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Swanson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Swanson lands a jab to the nose.
Swanson misses with a straight right.
Halsti slips a straight right by Swanson.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Halsti avoids a kick to the body.
Halsti walks into a left hand.
Halsti lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Swanson misses with a straight right.
Halsti appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Halsti dives in for a single leg takedown but Swanson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Swanson lands with a light punch inside.
Swanson misses with the head strike.

Halsti breaks from the clinch.
Halsti is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Swanson lands a jab.
Swanson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Halsti.
A bone on bone clash there as Halsti blocks the leg kick.
Halsti's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Swanson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Halsti scrambles back to his feet.
Halsti takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Halsti shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Swanson pinned against the cage. Swanson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Royal Halsti. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A punch lands to the side of Swanson 's head but he takes it in his stride.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Benedicte Swanson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Royal Halsti's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Halsti changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Swanson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Swanson bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Halsti needs to keep his hands up - Swanson had a free shot at his head there.
Swanson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Halstis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Benedicte Swanson seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Swanson moves into range and connects with a jab.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Halsti.
Swanson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Halsti drops his hands momentarily and Swanson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Halsti defending well as Swanson loads up on a big left hand.
Halsti lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Swanson feints and then cracks Halsti's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Halsti down.
Swanson misses with a left hand
and Halsti counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Swanson thinking.
Swanson tried to score with a low kick but Halsti checks it.

Halsti slips a straight right by Swanson.
Halsti tries to counter with a takedown but Swanson is quick to defend against it.

Halsti gets a clinch.
The referee calls for Halsti to work.
Swanson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Swanson working aggressively here.
Swanson misses with a hook to the ribs.

Halsti gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Swanson tries to get to full guard but Halsti has control of the leg.
Halsti trying to control from half guard but Swanson is working away.
Halsti wants to free his trapped foot but Swanson is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Halsti is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Swanson is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Royal Halsti!
An out of breath Royal Halsti thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
