Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yu Liang (ranked 3070 p4p, 3374 weight class) and Sheldon Soucy (ranked 332 p4p, 355 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sheldon Soucy!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Soucy misses

and Liang decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Soucy's guard.
Liang missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Liang throws an elbow that misses. Soucy uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Liang's guard. Nice move by Soucy!

Liang looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Soucy trying to control but Liang is working from the bottom.
Liang looking for a sweep. Not yet Liang, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Soucy wants to control from the top but Liang keeps moving.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Liang is looking for a triangle here but Soucy uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Liang tries to buck Soucy off but Soucy is having none of it.
Soucy wants to control but Liang is keeping him busy.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Liang tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Soucy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Liang manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Liang is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Soucy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Soucy's back!

Soucy is trying to break free.

Liang cracks Soucy with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Soucy from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Liang has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Liang keeps control of the position as Soucy tries to break free.

Liang scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Soucy is looking for a way out.

The referee is taking a good look at Soucy as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Liang!

Liang has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Liang lands a good shot there. Soucy covers up! Liang smells blood and goes for the finish - the referee warns Soucy to improve his position but he's not intelligently defending himself and the referee has no choice but to step in and end the fight! Liang jumps to his feet and celebrates the important win with his cornermen!
