Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Gunnarsson (ranked 6 p4p, 13 weight class) and Shinnosuke Nakagawa (ranked 2 p4p, 4 weight class). Gunnarsson comes into the arena with Björk - Army Of Me blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Nakagawa's choice of entrance music: Koto - CloZee. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gunnar Gunnarsson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shinnosuke Nakagawa!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunnarsson swings for the body but Nakagawa moves out of range.
And Nakagawa tries to counter it with a takedown but Gunnarsson pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Nakagawa's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Gunnarsson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Nakagawa scrambles back to his feet.
Nakagawa takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gunnarsson throws a leg kick
and Nakagawa counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Gunnarsson!
Gunnarsson is trying to get back to half guard.
Nakagawa is looking to take a break and control but Gunnarsson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Gunnarsson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Nakagawa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gunnarsson, who protects the arm well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nakagawa is trying to get an arm triangle but Gunnarsson is defending well.
Gunnarsson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Nakagawa's best efforts.

The fighters are battling for position here. Gunnarsson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Nakagawa is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Gunnarsson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nakagawa defends well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nakagawa tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gunnarsson was well out of range. Poor timing from Nakagawa.
A nice inside leg kick there by Gunnarsson. That's going to slow Nakagawa down.

Nakagawa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gunnarsson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Gunnarsson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nakagawa manages to avoid it.
Nakagawa changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Nakagawa manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gunnarsson on his heels. He'll look to pass Gunnarsson's guard now, I'm sure.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A close round but Shinnosuke Nakagawa will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Nakagawa counters with a shoot takedown. Gunnarsson fights it but they end up in guard.
Gunnarsson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Nakagawa is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gunnarsson.
Nakagawa in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Gunnarsson seems a little lost for a moment, as Nakagawa dominates the positioning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gunnarsson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Nakagawa is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Nakagawa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gunnarsson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gunnarsson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Nakagawa looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Gunnarsson is defending well. Nakagawa quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Gunnarsson has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Nakagawa celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
