PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Milo Jones (ranked 4234 p4p, 3253 weight class) and Gregor Reilly (ranked 417 p4p, 355 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Kayne West - Can’t Tell Me Nothing. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Milo Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gregor Reilly!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Jones misses with an uppercut. Reilly saw that one coming.
Reilly displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jones throws out the jab.
Jones lands a nice shot that snaps Reilly's head back.
Jones lands with a nice combination. Reilly backs away looking to recover.
Reilly misses with a hook. Jones ducked under it nicely.
Jones misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
As Jones backs off Reilly throws a huge counter combo but Jones manages to avoid it all.
Reilly lands with a shot to the body.
Jones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Reilly manages to avoid it.
Jones connects with a jab.
Jones misses with a jab to the body
and Reilly counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Reilly dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jones works Reilly's body with a nice hook.
Milo Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones takes a swing at Reilly's ribcage but misses.
Reilly tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Jones lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
A punch combination from Jones misses.
Reilly with the counter takedown but Jones avoids it easily.
Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Reilly is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Jones keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jones swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Reilly has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Reilly jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Jones misses with a body shot.
Reilly takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Jones looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Reilly bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jones connects with a body shot.
Reilly swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Jones counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Reilly thinking.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reilly thuds a left hand into Jones's body.

Reilly drives through and clinches with Jones against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Reilly doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Jones scores with a shot to the side of Reilly's head.
Jones has had enough of the clinch but Reilly keeps him there for the moment.

Reilly pulls guard effortlessly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reilly bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.


Reilly drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Reilly seems to have locked his on tight now - Jones screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Reilly, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Gregor Reilly!
