Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jarrod Beard (ranked 301 p4p, 547 weight class) and Mike Cozad (ranked 20 p4p, 41 weight class). Beard comes to the cage accompanied by Ladies Love Country Boys - Trace Adkins. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beard walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Beard is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cozad's half guard.
Cozad is trying to stand back up but Beard is controlling him
Beard lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Cozad has hold of Beard's hands but Beard slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Beard thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Beard is looking to take a break and control but Cozad is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cozad is looking to escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beard seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Cozad really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Beard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cozad has hold of Beard's hands but Beard slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Beard is nestled in close to Cozad, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Beard is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Cozad!
Beard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Beard lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Cozad is trying to stand.
Beard is landing with some decent strikes but Cozad is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
