Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sim Hwan (ranked 3214 p4p, 5442 weight class) and Roberto Nunes (ranked 335 p4p, 475 weight class). Hwan comes to the cage accompanied by The Chant of Metta (Pali). The key to victory for Sim Hwan has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hwan thuds his right hand into Nunes's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

It looks like Roberto Nunes has been cut.
Hwan misses with a hook. Nunes ducked under it nicely.
Hwan steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nunes.
Nunes throws the left hand but Hwan avoids the punch easily.
Nunes takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Nunes changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Nunes looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Roberto Nunes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nunes rushes Hwan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Nunes can't get the takedown.
A frustrated look appears on Nunes's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hwan blocks an uppercut.
A head punch on the inside from Nunes fails to land.

and Nunes holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Nunes throws a punch but it's blocked by Hwan.

Hwan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hwan lands a head shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nunes displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hwan throws out the jab.

Hwan tries to keep at a distance but Nunes has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hwan blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Hwan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hwan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nunes defending well as Hwan loads up on a big left hand.
Hwan looks to land a combination. Nunes sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Nunes shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hwan is trying to defend but Nunes finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Nunes with the ground and pound but Hwan uses the opportunity to regain guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hwan is looking to stand back up but Nunes counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Hwan.
Hwan is refusing to be controlled, as Nunes sits in half guard.

Hwan has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Hwan wants to stand but Nunes is controlling the position.
Nunes looking to sit in guard and control but Hwan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hwan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nunes is proving hard to escape from.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Nunes holds on and takes a little breather.

Nunes is striking from the bottom but Hwan uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

letting Hwan counter with a right hand.
Hwan's corner calls for a 1-2. Hwan obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Hwan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Sim Hwan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Nunes.
Nunes walks straight into a right hand from Hwan - that's dropped him! Hwan jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Nunes from any more punishment! Nunes complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
