Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gilbervan Soares (ranked 287 p4p, 1795 weight class) and Andor Kovacs (ranked 31 p4p, 194 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gilbervan Soares!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Andor Kovacs!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovacs misses the shot to the body.
Soares throws a leg kick that is checked
and Kovacs counters with a nice body shot.
Soares punishes Kovacs's body with a nice straight punch.
Kovacs has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Andor Kovacs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kovacs tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Soares paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kovacs tries a head kick but it misses.
Soares fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kovacs looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Soares slips under a jab.
Kovacs swings widly with a right hand
and Soares counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Soares on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kovacs throws a lazy uppercut
and Soares counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Kovacs throws a sloppy head kick
and Soares counters with a three punch combo that has Kovacs backing up. Kovacs nods at Soares to acknowledge the strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kovacs misses with a series of wild punches.

Jab, jab by Kovacs - just one landing.

Soares dives in and scores a takedown into Kovacs's guard.
Soares won't allow Kovacs to sweep him here.
Soares trying to control the position from guard on top but Kovacs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kovacs not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Soares not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Kovacs has his foot on Soares's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Soares works his way back into a safe position though.
Kovacs really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Soares. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Soares slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Kovacs looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Soares trying to control the position from guard on top but Kovacs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Soares fakes the leg kick and cracks Kovacs in the body.
Kovacs takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Soares throws out a powerful jab.
Kovacs misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Soares jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Soares will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Kovacs misses with a body punch
and Soares counters with a straight right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kovacs throws a hook but Soares blocks it.
Soares shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kovacs but Kovacs pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Soares lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Soares slips a straight right by Kovacs.
Soares checks a leg kick nicely.
A swing and a miss from Kovacs.
Soares circles away from the clinch attempt.
Soares feinted with a counter takedown.
Kovacs misses with a looping right.
Kovacs darts in trying to clinch
and Soares cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kovacs catches Soares with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Kovacs throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Soares counters with a nice uppercut.
Soares swings for the body but Kovacs moves out of range.
Soares shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kovacs dips to his left and cracks Soares with an uppercut!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kovacs is looking to clinch.
Soares circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kovacs misses with a hook to the body
enabling Soares to counter with a crisp jab.
Kovacs lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kovacs wants to clinch up but Soares keeps it at a distance.
Kovacs stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Soares misses with a left hand
and Kovacs counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gilbervan Soares dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kovacs, as that shot connected.
Soares is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kovacs can do to turn this around?
Kovacs misses with a head kick.
Sloppy strikes from Soares. Those never looked like landing.
Soares tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kovacs swivels and escapes.

Oooh a lovely combination from Soares sends Kovacs down but not out. Soares dives into side control looking to finish.

Kovacs is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Soares lands a strong strike to the head of Kovacs. That's dazed him! Soares looking to finish here. Kovacs is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Soares lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gilbervan Soares!
Gilbervan Soares is the new middleweight champion!
Post fight, an emotional Gilbervan Soares said 'Lets go martinez, you big ole pussy. I fight a elite guy to be champion while you crushes cans.'.
Andor Kovacs spoke after the fight, saying 'Tnough lost , i want bum phillps next'.
