Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stewie Griifin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taavi Liisteri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Liisteri's choice of entrance music: Solid Base - I like it. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Stewie Griifin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Taavi Liisteri!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liisteri takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Griifin misses with a few strikes there.
A telegraphed right hand from Griifin misses the target.
Liisteri takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Griifin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Liisteri moves away.

Liisteri shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Liisteri is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Griifin is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Griifin has escaped and now he's on top!

Griifin gets to his feet. Liisteri looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Griifin misses with a wild body shot.

Griifin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A telegraphed right hand from Griifin misses the target.
Griifin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Liisteri.
Griifin misses with a two punch combination.
Liisteri doesn't manage to clinch there - Griifin circles away.
Griifin swings for the body but Liisteri moves out of range.
Liisteri blocks a head kick by Griifin.
Griifin throws a lazy right hand but Liisteri sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Liisteri moves away from the strike by Griifin.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Liisteri avoids the body shot from Griifin.
Griifin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Griifin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Griifin thows a body shot but no joy.
Liisteri bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Stewie Griifin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Liisteri uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Griifin.
A big left from Griifin misses.
Griifin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Liisteri circles away quickly and effectively.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Griifin throws a right hand that Liisteri ducks under and follows up with a left that Liisteri also avoids with ease.
Liisteri dives in and grabs Griifin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Griifin pushes down on Liisteri's head and hops out.
Griifin misses with a two punch combination.
Liisteri looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Griifin is fending him off so far but Liisteri persists. Nope, Griifin circles away and we're back to standing.
Liisteri shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Griifin defends it nicely.
Stewie Griifin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Taavi Liisteri.
Liisteri shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Griifin as he jumps to the side.
Liisteri keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Liisteri shoots in looking for a takedown. Griifin tries to sprawl out of it but Liisteri keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Griifin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Liisteri tries for a takedown but Griifin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Liisteri shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Griifin defends it nicely.
Griifin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Liisteri.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stewie Griifin dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Griifin thows a body shot but no joy.
Liisteri shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Griifin pinned against the cage. Griifin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Griifin looks to score with a jab to the body but Liisteri is just out of range.
Liisteri shoots in but Griifin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Liisteri moves out of range of the body kick from Griifin.
Griifin uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Liisteri looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Griifin is defending against the submission attempts here by Liisteri.

Liisteri is working for a kimura but Griifin is defending it quite comfortably.
Griifin moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Griifin is looking to stand up but Liisteri isn't so interested in that idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Liisteri drops back, looking for a kneebar! Griifin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Griifin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Griifin!
Liisteri manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Liisteri is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Griifin sees it coming and defends easily.

Liisteri is looking for a kimura here.
Liisteri is breathing heavily.
Griifin preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Griifin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Griifin.
Liisteri looking to pass the guard.
Liisteri thows a big elbow that misses.
Liisteri pushes down on Griifin's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Liisteri is working for a kimura but Griifin is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Griifin wants to get back to his feet.

Liisteri is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Griifin is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Taavi Liisteri!
