PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Chapman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hill is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Song 2. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Chapman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Hill!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill misses with a body kick.
Hill throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Chapman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Chapman throws a front kick aimed at Hill's knee but Hill avoids it well.

Chapman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Chapman is trying to move to mount but Hill reverses beautifully and ends up in Chapman's guard.
Hill would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Chapman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hill can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Chapman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Chapman is looking for a kimura here.

Chapman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hill tries to get to full guard but Chapman has control of the leg.
Chapman stops Hill from getting back to his feet.
Hill really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chapman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Chapman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hill's guard.
Chapman postures up in Hill's guard and throws a big left but Hill blocks it.
Chapman works over Hill with some ground and pound from guard.
Hill is trying to control the position but Chapman postures up.

Chapman throwing strikes but missing.
Chapman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hill is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hill looks gassed!

Chapman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hill can do anything to dispel that myth.

Chapman throws a strike but Hill rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Chapman looking for a guillotine here but Hill defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chapman is looking for a triangle here but Hill uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Chapman manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Chapman dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hill throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Chapman shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Chapman was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Chapman moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Hill has worked his arm free - good work by Hill!
Hill is looking for a sweep.
Chapman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hill is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Chapman is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Chapman avoids the attempt from Hill to control.

Chapman fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Chapman throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Hill tries to control Chapman's body but Chapman pushes him off. Hill squirms to his side and now Chapman has his back!
Chapman scores with strikes from the back.
Hill just trying to survive but Chapman is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Chapman patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Chapman lands strikes to the head.

Chapman is looking for the choke from the back position but Hill is controlling his hands well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Chapman lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Chapman is hanging on to Hill's back as he tries to escape.
Chapman gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Hill looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Hill is covering up but some of the strikes from Chapman are getting through and doing damage.
Chris Chapman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Chapman lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Hill is trying to escape but he's just digging himself into more trouble. Chapman manages to sink in the hooks and gets a rear naked choke to end the fight in impressive fashion.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chris Chapman!
