Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jaxon Williams (ranked 989 p4p, 237 weight class) and Philip Marcus (ranked 76 p4p, 19 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jaxon Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Philip Marcus!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Ron Honeybunn and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marcus has closed the distance and engaged Williams in a clinch.
Marcus lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Williams tries to pull guard but Marcus forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Marcus scores with a nice hook to the head.
Marcus taking a breather.
Marcus holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Marcus continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
Williams has been working on his balance at Dillo's Deadly Dojo, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Marcus.

Williams lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Marcus pushes Williams off and gets back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Williams on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Marcus. Marcus obviously looking to wear him down.
Williams shoots in but no luck this time.
Marcus has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Williams gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Marcus to counter with a crisp jab.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jaxon Williams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A nice leg kick from Marcus, right into the meat of the thigh.

Williams shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Williams was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Marcus throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Williams tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Marcus swivels and escapes.
Marcus appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Marcus buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Marcus lands a glancing blow to the side of Williams's head.

Williams scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Marcus is looking to reverse the position.
Williams in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Marcus tries to improve position but can't.
Williams throwing strikes but Marcus manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Marcus tries to stand but Williams is controlling his head.
Williams is looking for a sweep.

Williams is trying to control Marcus's posture but Marcus avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Marcus is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
You can see the frustration on Williams's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Marcus trying to control the position but Williams is working away.
Marcus in side control, just content to control the action for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Williams gets back to half guard.
Williams is looking to control Marcus's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Williams avoid being mounted?
Marcus wants to stand up but Williams is controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Williams closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Marcus to the mat! Marcus manages to get full guard.
Marcus looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Williams throws a big elbow that misses.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Philip Marcus dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Marcus goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Marcus dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Williams misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
It seemed like Marcus was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Williams shoots and misses
and Marcus counters with a thumping low kick.
Williams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marcus's waist but Marcus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Williams off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jaxon Williams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Williams shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A solid body kick from Marcus.

Marcus moves into range and clinches up with Williams.

Williams successfully pulls guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Marcus stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Marcus lands a big head kick that sends Williams tumbling to the mat! Marcus takes a step backwards and waves Williams back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Williams is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters circle, before Marcus throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Williams's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Marcus lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Philip Marcus!
Philip Marcus decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
