PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Landors (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Urkel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steve Urkel told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Landors!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Urkel!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Urkel takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Landors has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Urkel working for the choke.
Urkel keeps control of the position as Landors tries to break free.

Urkel is looking for the choke from the back position but Landors is controlling his hands well.

Urkel is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Landors has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Landors wants to control his opponent's hands but Urkel gets his hands free.
Landors turns into Urkel and is now in his guard.
Landors is looking to work some ground and pound but Urkel has wrist control.
Landors trying to control the position from guard on top but Urkel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Urkel throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Landors escapes and throws Urkel's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Landors is looking to take a break and control but Urkel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Landors is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Urkel is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Landors wants to stand but Urkel has his arm trapped.
Urkel is looking for a sweep.

Landors is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Urkel is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Landors is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Urkel knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Urkel wants to control but Landors postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Landors gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Landors controls Urkel momentarily but Urkel frees himself.

Urkel postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Landors is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Urkel, into his guard.

Landors trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Urkel is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Landors tries to stand but Urkel is controlling from the bottom.

Urkel looking for a guillotine from mount but Landors is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Landors is desperately trying to improve his position but Urkel has a good base and remains in mount.

Urkel is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Landors has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Landors!

Urkel had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Landors is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Urkel Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Landors's back instead.
Urkel is trying to stick to Landors's back but Landors is turning into Urkel. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Urkel's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Landors.
Urkel is breathing heavily.

Landors is posturing up here but Urkel has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Landors tries to roll out but it's too tight and Landors has to tap! Slick submission there by Urkel!
