Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jovan Hopkins (ranked 4127 p4p, 3852 weight class) and Augustus Walls (ranked 388 p4p, 377 weight class). The key to victory for Jovan Hopkins has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jovan Hopkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Augustus Walls!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walls shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hopkins sprawls well. Hopkins wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Walls gets slowly back to his feet.
Hopkins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hopkins looks to land a right hand but Walls moved out of range.
Walls avoids the head kick by Hopkins.

Hopkins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Walls is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hopkins defends well.
Hopkins wants to pass the guard but Walls is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hopkins got a little sloppy there for a moment and Walls has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hopkins has managed to get both his arms back between Walls's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walls can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hopkins controls the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Walls looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hopkins accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Walls is pulling down on Hopkins's head to control his posture.

Walls is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hopkins is aware though and is defending well.
Hopkins trying to stand up but can't free himself from Walls's guard.

Walls had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hopkins defends it easily.
Hopkins throwing strikes from guard but Walls blocks nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Walls is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Walls is looking to cinch up a triangle. Hopkins throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Walls's body to avoid the submission. Walls has instead reached around Hopkins's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Walls arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Augustus Walls!
