PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Erin Dorato (ranked 4060 p4p, 25222 weight class) and Krow Gilon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Erin Dorato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Krow Gilon!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilon closes the distance looking to clinch

and Dorato counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dorato in particular looking to stall.
Gilon wants to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dorato seems to be looking for submissions.

Dorato is working for a kimura but Gilon is defending it quite comfortably.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dorato with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Dorato seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gilon for as long as he can get away with.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Gilon won't allow Dorato to pass to mount.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dorato is nestled in close to Gilon, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Dorato takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dorato connects with a nice short shot to Gilon's temple.
Dorato works his way into side control.
Dorato is chipping away with strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gilon prevents Dorato from moving into mount.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
A lull in the action here.
Gilon is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Dorato is trying to get an arm triangle but Gilon is defending well.
Dorato wants to stand but Gilon has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Gilon throws his legs up looking for a submission but Dorato uses it to pass to side control.
Gilon is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Dorato has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gilon is looking for a sweep.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gilon is working to avoid the ground and pound but Dorato connects with a decent elbow.
Dorato tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dorato gets a double leg takedown into Gilon's guard.
Dorato is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Erin Dorato overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gilon has a closed guard, preventing Dorato from standing up.

Gilon pushes Dorato off and scrambles back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Dorato blocks a punch to the side of the head.

A battle for position here, against the cage.

Dorato manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Dorato is pulling down on Gilon's head. It's preventing any offense from Gilon, at least for the moment.
Dorato is trying to control the position but Gilon postures up.
Gilon wants to stand and escape but instead Dorato has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Dorato landing some decent shots from guard.
Dorato slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Dorato advances to half guard.

Dorato is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gilon sees it coming and defends easily.

Gilon is looking to improve his position.
Gilon has hold of Dorato's hands but Dorato slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Dorato is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Dorato is working for a submission of some sort.
Gilon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dorato content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Gilon trying to hold on to Dorato's head to control him but Dorato postures up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dorato slaps away a takedown attempt from Gilon, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Erin Dorato dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Dorato shoots in and bounces Gilon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Krow Gilon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dorato landing with the ground and pound.
Dorato wants to control from the top but Gilon keeps moving.
Dorato has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gilon looking for a guillotine here but Dorato defends easily.
Dorato trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Gilon wants to sweep here but Dorato controlling him for the moment.
Dorato is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gilon can do to turn this around?

Gilon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dorato gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Dorato is stalling in the full guard.

Dorato avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Dorato is in close to Gilon's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Dorato lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Dorato looking to pass the guard.
Gilon controlling Dorato's posture.
Dorato seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Dorato continues to stall.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Dorato shoots in for a takedown but Gilon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dorato fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Dorato.
Dorato wants to stand but Gilon has his arm trapped.
Gilon tries to improve position but can't.

Dorato wants to control but Gilon is keeping him busy.
Gilon is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Dorato asserts his dominance and retains side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Erin Dorato showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dorato, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
