PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raiden Wallace (ranked 4145 p4p, 4311 weight class) and Damon Farley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raiden Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damon Farley!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Anthony Taglia and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Farley is fending him off so far but Wallace persists. Nope, Farley circles away and we're back to standing.
Wallace fails with a takedown attempt.
Wallace stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wallace wants it to stay on the feet.
Farley shoots for a double leg takedown but Wallace sprawls well. He's pushed Farley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Farley keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wallace could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Farley tries to keep at a distance but Wallace has taken the fight into the clinch.
Farley wants a takedown but no success here.
Raiden Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damon Farley.

Wallace tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

It looks like Raiden Wallace has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wallace tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Farley is trying to drag Wallace to the mat but Wallace just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Wallace has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Farley after a bit of a struggle.
Wallace misses with a short punch on the inside.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Wallace.

Wallace gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Farley won't allow Wallace to pass to mount.
Wallace thows a huge punch but Farley dodges it nicely.
Wallace tries to pass the half guard into mount. Farley knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Wallace is looking for a kimura but Farley is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wallace to get the leverage.
Farley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wallace. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Wallace thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Wallace trying to pass the guard but Farley defending well.
Wallace takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Wallace prevents Farley from standing back up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Farley can do anything to dispel that myth.

Wallace is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Farley defends it well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wallace works his way into side control.

Wallace is trying to get an arm triangle but Farley is defending well.

Wallace throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Farley works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Wallace wants to free his trapped foot but Farley is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Wallace is trying to control the action in half guard but Farley is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Wallace tries to pass the half guard into mount. Farley knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Wallace is working for a kimura but Farley is defending it quite comfortably.

Wallace is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Wallace has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wallace uses his free foot to push down on Farley's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Farley.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wallace moves to the back.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Farley shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Wallace is trying to defend but Farley finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Wallace is looking for a triangle but Farley pushes his legs off easily.
Wallace is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Farley can do to turn this around?
Farley wants to stand but Wallace is controlling his posture from full guard.
Farley is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wallace is on top in guard.

Farley can't keep his opponent in guard - Wallace advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Wallace maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Farley could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Wallace has cracked it and Farley is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Wallace!
