PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Skx Seven (ranked 4441 p4p, 4361 weight class) and Ivan Zelecki (ranked 372 p4p, 367 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ivan Zelecki was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Skx Seven!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Zelecki!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seven throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Zelecki on the side of the head.
Seven fails to land with a series of punches.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Zelecki! But no joy.
Seven definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Zelecki takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Seven digs a good hook to Zelecki's body.

Zelecki scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Seven tries to roll over but Zelecki keeps him under control.
Seven is trying to control but can't.
Seven tries to get to full guard but Zelecki has control of the leg.

Zelecki moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Seven.
Seven is trying to improve his position.

Zelecki stands up and beckons Seven to his feet.
Skx Seven seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Zelecki on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Seven cracks Zelecki with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
Seven jabs Zelecki to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Zelecki feints and as Seven raises his hands in defense, Zelecki changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Zelecki stays in close to Seven's body and controls the position.

Seven escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Zelecki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Zelecki not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Seven is looking to sweep but instead, Zelecki has passed into half guard.
Seven wants to get back to full guard.
Zelecki perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Seven has a hand on Zelecki's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Zelecki takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Seven is trying to escape the mount.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Seven tries to control Zelecki's body but Zelecki pushes him off. Seven squirms to his side and now Zelecki has his back!
Seven is trying to break free.
Zelecki controls the position.
Seven wants to control his opponent's hands but Zelecki gets his hands free.
Zelecki has the hooks in. Seven is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Zelecki is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Seven has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Zelecki keeps control of the position easily here as Seven tries to buck him off.

I really don't envy Seven right now.
Seven is working hard here to advance position.
Zelecki is not going to allow Seven to sit and survive in this position.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Zelecki controlling the positon.
You can see the frustration on Seven's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Zelecki is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
It looks like Zelecki might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Seven is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Zelecki.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Zelecki is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Zelecki changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Seven scores with a crisp jab that stopped Zelecki in his tracks.
Seven lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Seven enables Zelecki to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Seven manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zelecki seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Seven wants to sweep but no luck.
Zelecki stands and throws Seven's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The referee asks Zelecki politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Zelecki prefers to stall for the moment though.

Seven tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Zelecki wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ivan Zelecki has got the better of the ground game so far.
Seven tries to control but Zelecki manages to take his back.
Zelecki trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Seven doesn't escape.
Seven tries to escape but Zelecki has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Zelecki is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Seven is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Ivan Zelecki.
I think Zelecki has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
