Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gilbervan Soares (ranked 320 p4p, 1442 weight class) and Lyoha Nagibatel (ranked 39 p4p, 176 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gilbervan Soares!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lyoha Nagibatel!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nagibatel takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Gilbervan Soares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Soares closes the distance and clinches.
Soares lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Soares blocks an uppercut.
Soares throws a punch but it's blocked by Nagibatel.
Soares misses with a punch on the inside.
Nagibatel blocks an uppercut.
Nagibatel tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Soares presses Nagibatel against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
A right hook to the body lands for Soares.
Nagibatel stops a takedown attempt from Soares.
Soares lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Soares goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Soares misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Nagibatel breaks from the clinch.

Soares drives through with a takedown into Nagibatel's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Nagibatel wriggles free and stands up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Soares shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nagibatel sprawls well. Nagibatel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Soares gets slowly back to his feet.

Soares tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Nagibatel is able to avoid easily.
Nagibatel swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Nagibatel drops his hands momentarily and Soares takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Soares dives in and scores a takedown into Nagibatel's guard.
Soares working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Soares throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nagibatel works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nagibatel wants to get back to his feet but Soares is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Soares trying to control but Nagibatel is working from the bottom.

Soares throwing strikes from guard but Nagibatel blocks nicely.
Nagibatel keeping moving, preventing Soares from controlling successfully.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Nagibatel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Soares with a lazy takedown attempt

and Nagibatel counters with a crisp one two that drops Soares! Nagibatel thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Soares to his feet! Soares is in big trouble!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gilbervan Soares. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Soares throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Soares dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Soares darts in trying to clinch

and Nagibatel counters with a head kick that drops Soares to the mat! Soares scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Soares is rocked!

Soares has managed to clinch.
Soares tries a body shot but Nagibatel blocks it.
Soares has a couple of punches blocked by Nagibatel.
Soares misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Soares drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Soares is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Nagibatel is defending well.
Soares lands a nice shot to the body.
Soares tries to score a body lock takedown but Nagibatel shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

A head punch blocked on the inside by Nagibatel.
Nagibatel lands with a right to the head.
A nice right hand lands inside from Nagibatel.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Soares is working for takedown but Nagibatel is calmly controlling the position for now.
Soares blocks an uppercut.
Nice body punch from Soares - that landed with a thud.
Nagibatel scores with a shoulder strike.
Nagibatel misses with some punches.

Nagibatel manages to break the clinch.
Soares tries to clinch up.
Soares looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Soares lands a nice shot to the body.
Nagibatel stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nagibatel wants it to stay on the feet.
Soares fails to land the takedown.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lyoha Nagibatel will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

and Soares counters with a left and a right that stings Nagibatel.
Soares shoots for a double leg takedown but Nagibatel sprawls well. He's pushed Soares's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gilbervan Soares is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Soares fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Soares throws a series of punches but Nagibatel moves out of range.
Nagibatel ducks right into an uppercut from Soares.
Soares dives in for a single leg takedown but Nagibatel sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Nagibatel raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gilbervan Soares. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Soares tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Nagibatel's elbow.

Nagibatel is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Soares.
Soares gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Nagibatel counters with a nice uppercut.
Nagibatel throws a sloppy head kick and Soares moves out of range easily.
Nagibatel takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Soares throws a lazy head kick
and Nagibatel counters with a stiff jab, followed by a cross and an uppercut! That's too much punishment for Soares to take - he tumbles to the canvas, blood pouring from his nose, barely conscious. That's the end of the fight! Great knockout by Nagibatel!
