Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Babcock (ranked 159 p4p, 239 weight class) and Jakob Rolf (ranked 21 p4p, 32 weight class). Babcock comes into the arena with San Francisco Live Medley blaring out of the sound system. Rolf comes into a darkened arena with his song building. AVGN Theme Song kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jakob Rolf!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rolf thuds his right hand into Babcock's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Rolf listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Rolf bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Babcock's head backwards.
Rolf misses with an uppercut. Babcock saw that one coming.
Babcock takes a jab right on the kisser.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Rolf has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Rolf closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rolf is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Babcock knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
