Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bernard De La Tour!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Buzzard Leonard!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Ben Hemmingworth and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Leonard has De La Tour up against the cage in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on De La Tour's face as he tries to break the clinch.
De La Tour tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Leonard just stands there and leans against the cage.

Leonard breaks the clinch.

Leonard closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. De La Tour quickly recovers to half guard.

De La Tour trying to control from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
De La Tour is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Leonard's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Leonard's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Leonard wants to control his opponent's hands but De La Tour gets his hands free.
De La Tour is hanging on to Leonard's back as he tries to escape.

De La Tour trying to control momentarily.
De La Tour controlling well, preventing Leonard from escaping the position.
Will De La Tour go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Leonard avoids the strikes from De La Tour.
De La Tour struggling to keep hold of the position.
Leonard trying to control but not successfully.
De La Tour looking to hold on to the position here but Leonard rolls and ends up regaining guard.

Leonard pulls De La Tour in close to prevent any damage.
Leonard is continuing to stall.
Let's hope that Leonard has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Leonard has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. De La Tour is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
De La Tour jumps guard but Leonard stands there with De La Tour around his waist. De La Tour gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
De La Tour really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Leonard manages to break the clinch.

Leonard feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
De La Tour is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
De La Tour tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Leonard stands and steps away. De La Tour gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
De La Tour tries to clinch

and Leonard decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in De La Tour's guard.
Leonard keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of De La Tour's head.
Leonard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. De La Tour swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Leonard throws an elbow that misses. De La Tour uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Leonard's guard. Nice move by De La Tour!

Leonard is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Leonard manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
De La Tour is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Leonard to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bernard De La Tour. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Leonard drags the fight down to the ground.
De La Tour connects with a couple of short punches.

De La Tour gets to his feet. Leonard looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Leonard shoots in and gets a takedown into De La Tour's guard.
Leonard is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
De La Tour is trying to keep Leonard in close.
De La Tour looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
De La Tour trying to keep a closed guard but Leonard is proving a slippery customer.
Leonard passes De La Tour's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

De La Tour tries to roll over but Leonard keeps him under control.

De La Tour won't allow Leonard to pass to mount.
Leonard thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed De La Tour's head.

Leonard seems to be looking for submissions.
Leonard has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Leonard wants to free his trapped foot but De La Tour is holding on for dear life with his legs.
De La Tour avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Leonard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Leonard moves into the clinch successfully.
Leonard manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Leonard lands a takedown into guard.
De La Tour is wriggling around but Leonard manages to pass to half guard.

De La Tour is trying to maintain the position but Leonard is very close to passing his half guard.
Leonard not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Leonard is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Leonard stands up from half guard.

Leonard drives through with a takedown into guard.
De La Tour keeping full guard, as Leonard tries to pass.

Leonard stands up from De La Tour's guard - Leonard perhaps looking for a knockout.
De La Tour throws a right and a left that both miss.
Leonard swats away the attempt to clinch by De La Tour.

De La Tour dives in and grabs Leonard's left leg, looking for a takedown. Leonard pushes down on De La Tour's head and hops out.

Leonard gets a clinch.

Leonard jumps into guard, dragging De La Tour to the mat.

De La Tour has gone for a leg lock! Leonard slips out almost immediately though and dives into De La Tour's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
De La Tour slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Leonard is stalling in the full guard.

Buzzard Leonard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Leonard tries to free his leg and advance position but De La Tour is retaining full guard.

Leonard gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Leonard darts in and clinches De La Tour up against the cage.

Leonard manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Leonard pulls De La Tour in close to prevent any damage.
Buzzard Leonard has got the better of the ground game so far.
Leonard wants to sweep here but De La Tour controlling him for the moment.
Leonard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with De La Tour. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
De La Tour wants to control from the top but Leonard keeps moving.

Leonard looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Leonard had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. De La Tour defends it easily.
De La Tour trying to control the position from guard on top but Leonard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Leonard is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and De La Tour defends well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Buzzard Leonard comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Leonard has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
