Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brendan Collazo (ranked 4004 p4p, 3927 weight class) and Quinten Hendricks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quinten Hendricks will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brendan Collazo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Quinten Hendricks!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Collazo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hendricks quickly recovers to half guard.

Hendricks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Collazo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hendricks wants to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Collazo is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Collazo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hendricks is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Collazo pulls his head out easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Collazo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Collazo drops an elbow to the side of Hendricks's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hendricks tries to kick Collazo off but Collazo keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Collazo seems to be working for a kimura but Hendricks defends the submission attempt.

Collazo moves nicely into side control.
Collazo connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hendricks some visible discomfort.
Hendricks can't do much from the bottom here.

Collazo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hendricks knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Collazo stands up and beckons Hendricks to his feet.
Hendricks scores with a hook to the body. Collazo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Hendricks tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Collazo defends well and Hendricks ends up having to push Collazo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Hendricks looks winded!
Collazo moves in looking to clinch but Hendricks pushes him off.
Collazo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Collazo wants it to stay on the feet.
Collazo appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Collazo tries to keep at a distance but Hendricks has taken the fight into the clinch.
Collazo tries to score a body lock takedown but Hendricks shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Hendricks works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Collazo misses with some punches.
Hendricks doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Collazo is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Hendricks is keeping busy.
Hendricks lands a body punch.
Hendricks goes for a takedown attempt but Collazo pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Brendan Collazo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quinten Hendricks.
Hendricks throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Collazo's waist but Collazo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hendricks off to one side.
Collazo is looking for a counter combo.

Hendricks has taken the fight to the clinch.
Collazo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hendricks smiles and moves away.
Hendricks shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Collazo as he avoids it easily.

Collazo fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hendricks to the ground. Collazo is now in Hendricks's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Collazo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Collazo drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Collazo seems to have locked his on tight now - Hendricks screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Collazo, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Brendan Collazo!
Brendan Collazo got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
