PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jacare Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector Osorio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Osorio has chosen Run to the Hills as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jacare Souza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hector Osorio!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Osorio waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Souza.
Osorio throws an overhand right that lands on Souza's shoulder, as Souza tries to avoid the shot.
Souza has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Osorio finds it's way round the side to connect with Souza's head.
A shot to de liver by Osorio. Beautiful body shot.
Osorio throws a leg kick which misses Souza's front leg but catches the back leg as Souza tries to avoid it.
Osorio misses with a looping left.
Souza slips under a jab.
Osorio throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Osorio connects with the punch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Osorio misses the jab.
Osorio throws a series of punches but Souza moves out of range.
Osorio misses with a looping left.
Hector Osorio is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Osorio will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Souza closes the distance and clinches up with Osorio, looking for a takedown. Souza pushes Osorio against the cage but Osorio circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Osorio fails to land with a series of punches.
Souza takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Souza throws a head kick that half lands.
Osorio cracks the inside of Souza's front leg.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Osorio lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Souza has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Souza and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
A head kick misses from Souza.

A head kick lands from Osorio that sends Souza to the canvas. Souza tries to scramble back to his feet but Osorio brings him back down into side control.
Souza sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Osorio tries to pass to full mount but Souza defends it.
Osorio prevents Souza from improving his position.
Souza gets full guard.

Souza has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Osorio can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Osorio must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Souza is looking for a triangle but Osorio pushes his legs off easily.
Osorio wants to stand but Souza has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Souza keeping moving, preventing Osorio from controlling successfully.

Osorio got a little sloppy there for a moment and Souza has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Osorio has managed to get both his arms back between Souza's legs - danger averted.
Osorio is looking to stand up but Souza won't let him.

Souza looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Souza working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Osorio doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Osorio manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Osorio trying to control the position from guard on top but Souza is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Osorio looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Souza is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hector Osorio dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Osorio swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Souza takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Osorio throws a hook to the side of Souza's head but Souza sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A head kick misses from Souza.
Souza ducks under a wild hook from Osorio.
Osorio keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Souza throws a leg kick but Osorio checks it.
Souza shoots in but no luck this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Souza tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Souza misses with a low kick.
Osorio throws a jab but it's blocked by Souza.
Souza displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Osorio throws out the jab.
Osorio throws the left hand but Souza avoids the punch easily.
Souza closes the distance and clinches up with Osorio, looking for a takedown. Souza pushes Osorio against the cage but Osorio circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacare Souza. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Osorio is looking to chop away at Souza's legs.
Souza scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Hector Osorio seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Osorio avoids the head kick by Souza.
The fighters circling - Osorio throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Souza swings and misses with a shot to the body
letting Osorio counter with a right hand.
Osorio bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Souza throws a sloppy head kick and Osorio moves out of range easily.
Osorio throws an overhand right that lands on Souza's shoulder, as Souza tries to avoid the shot.
Osorio keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Osorio throws the left hand but Souza avoids the punch easily.
A big right from Osorio misses.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Souza. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Whack! Souza lands a heavy head kick that drops Osorio. The ref tackles Souza to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Osorio was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Jacare Souza!
