Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Drake Danger (ranked 3304 p4p, 3791 weight class) and Gord Downey (ranked 227 p4p, 248 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Gord Downey enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Drake Danger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gord Downey!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danger tries to clinch but Downey moves out of range.
Downey throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Danger sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Downey moves into range and clinches up with Danger.
A bit of stalling here from Downey.
Danger stops a takedown attempt from Downey.
Danger working hard to break the clinch.

Downey gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Downey looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Downey is pressing down on Danger's thigh, looking to free his foot. Danger is holding on for now.
Downey trying to control from half guard but Danger is working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Downey is keen to just control but Danger is a slippery customer.

Downey is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Still in half guard, Downey seems content to control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Downey might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Danger haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Downey content just to control the position here.
Danger slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Downey wants to lay and pray for a moment but Danger keeps working.
Danger looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Downey is controlling the pace.
Downey wants to control but Danger is keeping him busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Danger ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Downey darts in and clinches Danger up against the cage.
Downey is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Danger gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Downey is looking to take this one to the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Danger gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Downey.
Danger lands with a left to the head.
Downey goes for a takedown in the clinch but Danger prevents it.
Danger scores with a shoulder strike.

Danger breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Danger looks to land a body kick but Downey moved away.

Danger is trying to force a seperation but Downey has the dominant position.
Danger tries to break the clinch but Downey is controlling the position.

Danger pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Downey tries to close the distance and clinch but Danger swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Downey walks into a jab.
Danger tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Downey manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Downey on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Downey takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Downey throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Danger counter with a right hand.
Downey moves out of range of the body kick from Danger.
Downey is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Gord Downey is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Downey throws a lazy right hand but Danger sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
An attempted straight right counter from Danger misses the target.
Danger feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Downeys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Downey takes one to the side of the head.
Danger's jab looks to have found its range, popping Downey under the eye.
Danger connects with a right hand. Downey shakes it off.

Downey tries to keep at a distance but Danger has taken the fight into the clinch.

Danger stalks Downey and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Downey's face. Downey staggers backwards, shaken.

Danger is trying to break free.
Danger wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Danger's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Downey tries to clinch but Danger moves out of range.
Danger is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Downey can do to turn this around?

Danger steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Downey.
It looked like Danger wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Danger bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Downey's head backwards.
Downey throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Danger tries to keep at a distance but Downey has taken the fight into the clinch.

Danger breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Danger fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Downey looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Drake Danger dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Gord Downey's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Danger scores with a shot to the body.
Nice shot lands for Danger.
Danger looks to land a combination but Downey avoids it well.
Drake Danger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Danger's jab looks to have found its range, popping Downey under the eye.
Nice straight punches there by Danger. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Danger.
Drake Danger is winning the standup battle so far.
Danger will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Danger ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Danger misses with a wild combination.
Danger is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Danger swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Downey.

Downey closes the distance and clinches.
Downey is trying to drag Danger to the mat but Danger just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Downey has clasped his hands together around Danger's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Danger is not content to let Downey control the position.
Danger is looking to regain half guard here but Downey keeps moving and retains side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
A left lands for Danger.
Danger jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Downey has managed to clinch.
Danger wants to get back to striking at distance but Downey won't allow it.
Danger lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Downey or not.
Downey keeps control of Danger as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Danger throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Downeys head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Drake Danger showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Danger has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
