The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuusela misses with a low kick.
Kuusela looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kuusela has a takedown stuffed.
Kuusela shoots in and drives through. Jokinen sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leif Kuusela. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jokinen looks to land a combination but Kuusela avoids it well.

Kuusela throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jokinen's waist but Jokinen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kuusela off to one side.

Jokinen lands a left and a right that sends Kuusela crashing to the canvas! Jokinen dives into mount looking to finish!

Kuusela seems to have got his legs back now.
Kuusela keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Let's hope that Jokinen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kuusela wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Kuusela tries to lock up and control but Jokinen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Kuusela swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Kuusela is looking to improve his position but Jokinen isn't that keen on the idea.
Kuusela manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Kuusela has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jokinen is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jokinen prevents Kuusela from improving his position.

Kuusela kicks off Jokinen and gets to his feet.

Kuusela breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kuusela tries to clinch up but Jokinen circles away and keeps his distance.
Ossi Jokinen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jokinen misses with a series of wild punches.
Jokinen lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Kuusela lands a jab to the head.
Jokinen throws a series of punches but Kuusela avoids them all with ease.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kuusela darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Ossi Jokinen has been cut.
Jokinen slips a jab from Kuusela.
No joy there for Jokinen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jokinen moves out of range as Kuusela strikes.
Ossi Jokinen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kuusela misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kuusela swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Jokinen counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Kuusela!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jokinen stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Jokinen lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Kuusela is looking to close the distance but Jokinen sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Kuusela crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Kuusela is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
