PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Liam Rossiter (ranked 5806 p4p, 3985 weight class) and Drame Lompos (ranked 0 p4p, 354 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Liam Rossiter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Drame Lompos!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lompos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rossiter circles away quickly and effectively.
Rossiter shoots in looking for a takedown. Lompos tries to sprawl out of it but Rossiter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lompos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lompos looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Lompos throws a series of strikes that have Rossiter backpedaling.

It looks like Liam Rossiter has been cut.

Rossiter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Rossiter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Rossiter is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lompos has escaped the position, nice work there.
Rossiter moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Rossiter decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rossiter rushes Lompos and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lompos is looking to control Rossiter's arms but Rossiter gets an underhook and turns him. Now Lompos has his back to the cage.

Rossiter breaks the clinch.
Lompos slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Lompos drops Rossiter with a beautiful combination! Rossiter stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Lompos is looking for the KO!

Rossiter is rocked!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Oh Rossiter is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rossiter is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Lompos can't fight it off and eventually Rossiter manages to take the fight to the floor. Lompos looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rossiter controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rossiter seems to have got his legs back now.

Rossiter decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lompos, up you get!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lompos lands with a straight right. Rossiter didn't see that one coming.
Rossiter will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Lompos lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Rossiter is standing up over Lompos. Lompos looks to escape but Rossiter dives into side control.

Lompos throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Drame Lompos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice takedown defense from Lompos. No joy for Rossiter on that attempt.

Rossiter drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Lompos pushes Rossiter off and scrambles back to his feet.
Rossiter is breathing heavily.
A punch combination from Lompos misses.
Lompos bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rossiter's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rossiter slips a jab and a cross from Lompos.

Rossiter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lompos was covering up waiting for the punch and Rossiter finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Lompos manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Lompos is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Rossiter feints and as Lompos raises his hands in defense, Rossiter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rossiter is standing up over Lompos. Lompos looks to escape but Rossiter dives into side control.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rossiter lands some shots froms side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rossiter scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Lompos to see if he's OK.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lompos can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rossiter working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Rossiter decides to stand back up. Rossiter steps back and let's Lompos get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lompos avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Left hook, right uppercut from Lompos.
Lompos lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rossiter backs up against the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Drame Lompos dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Liam Rossiter's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rossiter forces Lompos back against the cage and clinches.

Rossiter breaks from the clinch.
Rossiter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lompos circles away quickly and effectively.
Lompos throws a nice looking combination but Rossiter bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lompos bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Lompos thuds his right hand into Rossiter's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Lompos comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Rossiter tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lompos lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Rossiter shoots and misses
and Lompos counters with a nice uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lompos swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Rossiter holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Rossiter has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Lompos clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Lompos is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Rossiter off. It looks like it's working - Rossiter slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Lompos displaying calm under pressure there.
Lompos has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lompos listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Lompos swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rossiter throws a big counter combination but Lompos scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Lompos throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A little feinted left hand from Rossiter on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Rossiter scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Rossiter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Rossiter stands up and beckons Lompos to join him on the feet.

Rossiter feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Lompos is looking to stand back up but Rossiter counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Lompos.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rossiter content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lompos on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rossiter decides to stand up.
Lompos throws a one two combo.

Rossiter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rossiter is nestled in close to Lompos, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Lompos pushes Rossiter off but Rossiter dives into side control.

Rossiter has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Rossiter shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Lompos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rossiter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Drame Lompos will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Lompos tries to keep at a distance but Rossiter has taken the fight into the clinch.

Rossiter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lompos can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lompos got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rossiter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lompos has managed to get both his arms back between Rossiter's legs - danger averted.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rossiter has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Rossiter has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Lompos stands up from Rossiter's guard - Lompos perhaps looking for a knockout.
Rossiter shoots in for a double leg but Lompos sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
A nice combination there by Lompos.
Drame Lompos seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Rossiter rushes Lompos and presses him up against the cage.

Lompos makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rossiter decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Rossiter counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lompos won't be happy with that.

Rossiter passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Lompos!

Lompos is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rossiter pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Rossiter tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Liam Rossiter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rossiter lands a big shot there that rocks Lompos but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

And that's the end of the fight!
Liam Rossiter showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lompos has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
