The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith slips under a jab.
Messier looks to throw the jab but Smith is out of range.
Smith moves out of range as Messier strikes.
Messier doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.

Smith darts in and clinches Messier up against the cage.

Smith tries to work over Messier's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Messier creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Smith's defenses.
Messier misses with a short punch on the inside.
Smith lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Smith gets through Messier's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Smith struggles to land a body shot inside as Messier controls his hands.
Messier pushes off an throws an elbow but Smith leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Smith swings wildly with an uppercut but Messier uses good head movement to avoid it.
