Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kodiyak Redd (ranked 307 p4p, 808 weight class) and Jerry Short (ranked 14 p4p, 35 weight class). Short has chosen Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kodiyak Redd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jerry Short!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Sano and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Short stuffs the takedown.
Short has a takedown stuffed.
Short misses with a takedown attempt

and Redd counters with a nice double leg into side control. Short won't be happy with that.
Short wants to control but Redd postures up.
Redd wants to lay and pray for a moment but Short keeps working.
Redd grinds an elbow into Short's temple.
Redd will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Short is trying to control Redd's posture but Redd avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Redd wants to lay and pray for a moment but Short keeps working.

Short is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Redd connects with a nice short shot to Short's temple.

We've been hearing that Redd has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Short wants to get back to full guard.

Redd is working for a submission of some sort.
Short is trying to control but can't.

Redd not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Short has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Gold Samurai's Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Short is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Redd scores with a couple of nice shots.

Redd is keen to just control but Short is a slippery customer.
Short has hold of Redd's hands but Redd slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Short wants to control but Redd is keeping busy.
Short might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Redd haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Redd seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Short is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Redd lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Redd working over Short with some ground and pound. Short looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Redd lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kodiyak Redd dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Short closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Short lands in his opponent's guard.
Redd is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Redd has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Short has passed into side control.
Redd manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Redd is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Short can do to turn this around?
