Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Zavala (ranked 2940 p4p, 2868 weight class) and George Pogie (ranked 319 p4p, 310 weight class). Eduardo Zavala could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to George Pogie's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eduardo Zavala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, George Pogie!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zavala throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pogie tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Zavala is in Pogie's guard.
Pogie is trying to keep Zavala in close.
Zavala trying to control but Pogie is working from the bottom.
Zavala has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Zavala throwing strikes from guard but Pogie blocks nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zavala looking to sit in guard and control but Pogie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Pogie pushes down on Zavala's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Pogie lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zavala wants to improve his position but Pogie is controlling well.

Pogie is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Zavala has managed to free his arm - good work.

Pogie slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Zavala.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Zavala is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pogie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pogie's back!
Zavala is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Pogie up.
Pogie tries to roll but Zavala sticks to his back.
Pogie tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Pogie gets back to half guard.
Pogie is staying active underneath Zavala, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Pogie moves into full guard.
Pogie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Zavala is one step ahead there.
Pogie utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Zavala wants to pass the guard but Pogie is keeping the position.
Pogie looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Zavala drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pogie looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pogie looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pogie!

Zavala tries to bench press Pogie off him but Pogie keeps the position.
Zavala on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Zavala is looking to regain half guard here but Pogie keeps moving and retains side control.
Pogie looks up at the clock and then as Zavala takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Pogie smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Pogie wants to take a breather but Zavala manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Pogie.
Pogie is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Pogie postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Pogie is in close to Zavala's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Pogie with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

George Pogie dominated that round.
That's time! Zavala's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Zavala goes for a double leg but Pogie avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pogie continues to drive forward.
Pogie tries a quick counter leg kick but Zavala is wise to it.
Zavala is looking to take this one to the mat.
Zavala is trying to push Pogie away but Pogie has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Zavala is trying to drag Pogie to the mat but Pogie just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eduardo Zavala. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zavala tries to score a body lock takedown but Pogie shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Pogie has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Zavala is trying to keep an underhook but Pogie manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Pogie has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Zavala is trying desperately to improve position.

Zavala is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Pogie has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Pogie looking to secure an arm triangle but Zavala defends it well.

Pogie jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Zavala manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Zavala pushes Pogie away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Pogie gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Pogie gets to mount! Zavala was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Pogie prevents Zavala from getting the reversal.
Pogie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Zavala is squirming around, avoiding Pogie's attempts to control the action.

Pogie has hold of Zavala's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Zavala manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Zavala wants to hold on but Pogie pushes him away.
Zavala is looking to get to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zavala is working hard here to advance position.
George Pogie has got the better of the ground game so far.

Zavala tries to lock up and control but Pogie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Pogie wants to finish this one by submission but Zavala is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pogie.

Zavala is trying desperately to improve position.
The referee warns Zavala that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Oh Zavala is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Pogie softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Zavala is out cold! Pogie jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
