The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Jefferson checks a leg kick.
Jefferson misses with the combination.
Kovacs takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Kovacs moves away from the strike by Jefferson.
It looked like Kovacs wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Jefferson ducks under a wild hook from Kovacs.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jefferson. Kovacs does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kovacs avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
An attempted straight right counter from Kovacs misses the target.
Kovacs throws a leg kick but Jefferson sees it coming and moves out of range.
Jefferson's coach down at Gold Samurai's Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Jefferson's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That kick from Kovacs tenderised Jefferson's leg. Jefferson is trying to keep his angry face on.
Jefferson throws a hook but Kovacs blocks it.
Kovacs throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Jefferson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Javon Jefferson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jefferson avoids the body shot from Kovacs.
Kovacs moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Kovacs is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jefferson shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Kovacs takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Jefferson sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Kovacs bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!
