PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and KAA Ghent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Costa comes to the cage accompanied by Head Dance. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eduardo Costa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, KAA Ghent!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Costa tries to clinch but Ghent is having none of it.
KAA Ghent seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Costa shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ghent's guard.
Costa could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Ghent working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Costa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Costa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Costa cracks Ghent with a solid left hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Costa stands and steps away. Ghent gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ghent throws a right and a left that Costa avoids nicely.
Costa circles away from the clinch attempt

and Costa moves into the clinch.
Ghent lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Ghent is trying to maintain a safe position but Costa gets an underhook and turns Ghent into the cage.
Nice body punch from Ghent - that landed with a thud.
Costa dodges an elbow strike from Ghent.
Ghent misses with a short punch on the inside.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ghent fails to pull guard.
A right hook to the body lands for Costa.
Ghent tries for a takedown but Costa manages to get underhooks.
Ghent wants to get back to striking at distance but Costa won't allow it.
Costa fails to pull guard.
Costa prevents the takedown attempt.
Eduardo Costa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of KAA Ghent.
Ghent prevents Costa from breaking the clinch.
Costa tries to pull guard but Ghent won't allow it.

Ghent manages to break the clinch.

Costa bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ghent takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Ghent wants to control but Costa postures up.

Costa is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Ghent looks calm but he's in trouble here. Costa gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Ghent is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Costa lets go of the hold and Ghent can pop his arm back in it's socket.
