PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jagger Watkins (ranked 2849 p4p, 2847 weight class) and Jaki Hatto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jagger Watkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jaki Hatto!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Watkins has managed to clinch.
Watkins tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Good body shot from Hatto.
Watkins is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
A frustrated look appears on Watkins's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hatto tries to break free but Watkins pushes him back against the cage.

Hatto escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Watkins dives in and grabs Hatto's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hatto pushes down on Watkins's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jagger Watkins. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hatto closes the distance and clinches.

Watkins jumps guard but Hatto turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hatto pushes Watkins back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Hatto ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hatto no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Hatto looking to hit a scissor sweep but Watkins is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hatto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Watkins doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Watkins manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Watkins drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hatto dives on top into guard.

Watkins has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Hatto has passed into side control.

Hatto decides to stand back up. Hatto steps back and let's Watkins get back to his feet.
Watkins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

and Hatto takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Hatto dives in and scores a takedown into Watkins's guard.

Watkins can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hatto controls the pace.

Watkins has hold of Hatto's hands but Hatto slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Hatto passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Watkins!
Watkins knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hatto on the ground.

Hatto has control of Watkins's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Watkins regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hatto connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Jaki Hatto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Watkins uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hatto.

Hatto moves into range and clinches up with Watkins.
Hatto wants to get back to striking at distance but Watkins won't allow it.

Hatto manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Jaki Hatto has got the better of the ground game so far.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Watkins avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hatto forces his way into half guard.
Hatto thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hatto performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Hatto is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Watkins is just riding it out for now. Hatto eventually gives up the hold.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jaki Hatto comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hatto has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
